Deb Pyrek
Certified Instructor
Infant Swimming Resource (ISR)
(808) 542-7074
Deb Pyrek has been teaching ISR lessons since we began offering the program in Hawaii in early 2008. She first learned about ISR as a parent looking for an instructor for her own two children back in 2007 and found there were no ISR instructors in Hawaii. She recognized the importance of having this program in Hawaii to protect our keiki. So she decided to commit to the intensive training program to become a certified ISR instructor. After teaching ISR lessons for many months AND continuing her career as Vice President/CIO for a local company, she decided to resign her VP position so that she could have more time to teach babies and young children the ISR methods that have saved so many children's lives over the years.
Deb loves working with children and parents to promote a safe love of the water. Through careful observation of every student, she is able to determine the unique needs of each child and apply ISR's special techniques to help them safely learn self rescue swimming skills. Some children begin ISR lessons with enthusiasm, while others may start with a bit of apprehension. Deb offers loving support and encouragement during lessons to help our little ones gain confidence, which leads to a lifelong love of the water!
Deb has been a water enthusiast for most of her life. In addition to swimming, she enjoys kayaking and is an accomplished scuba diver. She is a PADI certified Rescue Diver.
Deb holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, IL.
